For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a sacred covenant in which a man and woman give themselves completely and faithfully to one another for life. Through their vows, husband and wife enter into a lifelong partnership of love, faithfulness, and mutual support, strengthened by the grace of God.

Marriage is also a public sign of God’s love. The loving union of husband and wife reflects Christ’s faithful love for His Church and calls couples to build their marriage and family upon faith, prayer, and service. Through this sacrament, couples are strengthened to grow together in holiness, support one another through the joys and challenges of life, and create a home centered on Christ.
