At Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School, we believe that education is a partnership between the school, parish, and family. To support our mission of forming courageous Catholics in the virtues of Christ, each family is asked to complete 30 Family Discipleship Hours each school year. These hours provide opportunities for families to actively participate in the life of our school and parish while modeling service, stewardship, and community involvement for their children.
School Service Opportunities
Families may earn Discipleship Hours by volunteering in a variety of ways, including:
- Assisting with school events and fundraisers
- Helping with classroom projects or teacher requests
- Chaperoning field trips
- Assisting at athletic events
- Supporting school performances, concerts, and programs
- Serving at Open House, registration events, or family nights
- Assisting with campus beautification, maintenance, or special projects
- Volunteering with PTO activities
- Helping with book fairs, scholastic events, or student activities
Parish Service Opportunities
Families may also earn Discipleship Hours by serving within Our Lady of the Lake Parish ministries, including:
- Religious Education programs
- Youth Ministry activities
- Hospitality and fellowship events
- Parish festivals and special events
- Liturgical ministries (as approved by the parish)
- Knights of Columbus events
- Parish outreach and service projects
- Church maintenance and beautification projects
- Other approved parish ministries

Family Discipleship Hours are more than a volunteer requirement—they are an opportunity to strengthen our school and parish community while demonstrating Christ-centered service. Through active participation, families help create a vibrant Catholic community where faith, service, and stewardship are lived each day.
